Marco Polo World Foundation (MPWF) is proud to be the first to bring this festival to North Texas. The festival is a cultural and educational event that promotes intercultural understanding, showcases diverse culture, and celebrates Asian Pacific Heritage Month. It has become one of the largest Festivals in Southwest region. In 2016, 18, 000 people attended to our festival which includes 36 dragon boat racing teams (from out-city and States such as Austin, Houston, and Louisiana, even overseas China) with 92 booths. For 2017, we anticipate the festival growing further. We are excited to have oversees racing teams coming from China and France joining our festival.
MPWF has successfully launched the Annual DFW-Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival for 9 years. It is a bridge to bring everyone together and experience multi-culture education, wellness and family fun showcase along with other activities The festival also contains presents cultural performances, an international costumes parade, interactive activities, lantern riddles, and carnival-type games.
The festival will feature spectacular kite flying and shuttlecock demonstration and competition. Various cultural classes such as kite, Lantern making, Chinese embroidery, the Mandarin language and counting with abacus, and many other exhibitions will be available for free of admission for visitors.
